ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.2% in October as 933 county residents found employment during the month, according to the latest statewide labor force report issued by the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.
"The numbers indicate we added 1,000 jobs in October. I'd say that's good news as we head into the holiday season," said Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn. "The report also shows that employment has increased by more than 1,800 since October of last year, which I take as a sign of a vibrant local and regional job market."
The numbers for Anderson County also showed an increase in labor force participation of 670 during the month.
The 4.2% unemployment rate puts Anderson County tied with Berkeley and Dorchester counties for 7th lowest among counties in South Carolina.
