ANDERSON AREA TOUCHDOWN CLUB ALONG WITH ANDERSON COUNTY AND THE CITY OF ANDERSON WILL RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES AND COACH OF THE YEAR AS WELL AS THE 2016 AND 1981 NATIONAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS, THE CLEMSON TIGERS
ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (April 18, 2017) — Anderson County is a co-sponsor of the Anderson Area Touchdown Club’s Annual Football Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 6:30 p.m., Civic Center of Anderson. This year’s banquet includes the recognition of the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year, Extra Yard Award, Scholastic Award and Coach of the Year.
In addition to the recognition of the high school standout athletes, the Anderson Area Touchdown Club has extended their program to acknowledge Anderson County’s own athletes, who are a part of the 2016 Clemson Tigers National Championship Team.
Anderson County is proud of its youth; particularly, the ones that demonstrate excellence in character, academics, and athleticism. “On Wednesday evening, we will celebrate our sons of Anderson: Ben Boulware (TL Hanna), Kelly Bryant (Wren), Kendall Joseph (BHP) and Darien Rencher (TL Hanna.). These young men have brought great pride to themselves and their family, the Clemson Tigers, Anderson County and the State of South Carolina,” said Rusty Burns, County Administrator.
The 2016 Clemson National Championship flag will be raised at 9 a.m. on April 19th by the Anderson Area Touchdown Club President Bill Brissey and County officials at the courthouse plaza. At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, the National Champions flag will be raised at the Civic Center of Anderson by Ben Boulware, members of the 2016 and 1981 Clemson National Champions. The flag will be flown in honor of the team's accomplishment; specifically, in recognition of Ben Boulware Day honoring Clemson Senior Ben Boulware as the National Championship Game’s Most Valuable Defensive Player.
