POSITION: Part Time Special Populations Assistant
PAY GRADE: $15 an hour – NO BENEFITS – 21 hours/week
DEPARTMENT: Special Populations
Ability to assist with Special Olympics athletes in their training. Ability to drive a 15 passenger bus. Ability to work with and interact with all volunteers. Assist in running the Special Olympics Spring Games. Assist with coordinating of volunteers to work in community events. Assist coordinating the planning, organizing and implementation of program activities for the Rainbow Gang. Assist with the coordinating of schedules and maintains related records and statistics for programs and personnel at the Community Center. Coordinates sports and/or game programs as assigned. Assist with maintain schedules and related records and statistics for programs and personnel at the Community Center as assigned. Ability to interact with family members, to provide quality care. Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, conducting arts/crafts activities for children, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc. as assigned. May be required to provide transportation for participants as needed. Responds to public inquiries about programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings. Assist with schedules and runs various tournaments throughout the year for a variety of activities such swimming, tennis, golf, etc. May be required to supervise classes, workshops, and activities for persons engaged in recreation programs and co-sponsored programs as assigned. Regular attendance is an essential and necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities required for this job. Must be able to work a variety of hours during the week and on weekends. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or GED equivalent with specialized training in social work, recreation or a related field, or any combination of education and experience.
