The U.S. Department of Transportation has provided Notice to Congress of a discretionary grant award from the Federal Aviation Administration to Anderson Regional Airport (KAND) in the amount of $5,300,000. The funds will be used to rehabilitate KAND runway 05/23.
“Having a functional and modernized main runway is essential to our economic development strategy,” said Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn. “We cannot overstate the importance of this project for the long-term functionality of Anderson Regional.”
“This is yet another bit of great news for Anderson Regional Airport and the entire Anderson community,” said County Council member Tom Allen, Chairman of the Council’s Airport Committee. “This improvement is much needed and will help to ensure that we can continue to provide a high level of service to the aviation community.”
“We are thrilled to hear this announcement and proud to be part of the community effort to provide high-quality aviation services to our region,” said Airport Advisory Board Chairman Don Acevedo.
