Anderson, S.C. (October 2, 2017) – On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 4 p.m. The Upstate Strikers will proudly announce the launch of their new professional indoor soccer team. Beginning in December 2017 the Upstate Strikers will play its first game in Upstate South Carolina at the Anderson Civic Center, where tryouts will be held starting October 28, 2017.
The Upstate Strikers are a professional indoor soccer team that will play 6 to 8 home games the first year with the hopes of playing 10 to 15 the second year. For soccer players who are interested in joining the 2016-2017 roster, they should report to the Anderson Civic Center at 3027 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, SC 29625 during the tryout dates. Exact times will be announced within the coming weeks.
The Upstate Strikers is opening tryouts to soccer players that have completed college and have played at a professional level. These tryouts will present an excellent opportunity for soccer players to join a professional organization that is not only focused on becoming a winning team, but developing into one of the most exceptional pro indoor soccer teams in MASL.
As a new team the Upstate Strikers are looking for assistant coaches and trainers with the experience of working with pro soccer athletes in an indoor arena. Because indoor soccer is a spectator sport dancers will be needed to create the first Upstate Strikers dance squad. So, for dancers who are interested, tryouts for the new dance team will also be held during the tryout dates.
The Upstate Strikers will provide families with fun and entertainment at every game this upcoming season. Thousands of soccer fans are expected to attend our games and we anticipate extending our game schedule with each passing year.
“Youth soccer fills our fields almost every night of the week, the addition of a minor league soccer team is a testament to its growing popularity and the rising tide of economic development and quality of life that is present in our community. We look forward to the great entertainment and forwarding the athletic traditions of our community.” – Craig Wooten, Anderson County Councilman, District 1
"We pride ourselves on our commitment to the MASL by creating a significant sports presence that we are dedicated to developing into a respected brand. We are looking forward to bringing a quality product to Upstate South Carolina that the community would love to support, so all are welcome to come out and enjoy each game whether it’s home or away." – James Morris, Upstate Strikers
