Anderson County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.5% in March, according to a report released today by the SC Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW). The unemployment rate was recorded at 4.9% in February.

The county added 747 jobs over the month along with an increase in the labor force of 462. Total employment was reported at 87,367, while the number of unemployed persons decreased from 4,430 in February to 4,145 in March.

“Since January of this year, the labor force increased by more than 2,000 and total employment by almost 2,500—these numbers tell me that people are looking for work and most of them are finding it” said Anderson County Governmental Affairs Director Steve Newton.
