Senator Richard Cash Sponsors $450K Grant for Hurricane Springs Park
The grant funding is for improvements to the press box and fieldhouse.

Anderson County, S.C. (July 17, 2024) – Councilman Jimmy Davis and his colleagues on the Anderson County Council offer sincere appreciation to Senator Richard Cash for sponsoring a $450,000 grant from SCPRT. The funds will be used to improve the press box and fieldhouse at Hurricane Springs Park in Wren.

The fieldhouse was rendered unusable due to an act of malicious vandalism.  The facility had served as a key functional component to activities at Hurricane Springs Park—a regional athletic facility offering baseball, softball, football, and soccer programs to hundreds of area children and teens each year. In addition to structural repair work, the project scope involves updates to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, ADA accessibility improvements, a new concessions service island, restroom renovations, and a wrap-around awning to provide more shade.

Anderson County staff has prepared the specifications and preliminary documents needed for the project. When SCPRT formally releases the project funds, a bid package for the work will be ready to issue.

“We cannot thank Senator Cash enough for his help with this project. Thanks to his assistance, we will be able to provide an improved facility that will meet the needs of the community for years to come.”—Jimmy Davis, Anderson County Council District Six
