Councilman Jimmy Davis and his colleagues on the Anderson County Council offer their sincere appreciation to Senator Richard Cash for his sponsorship of a $573,151 grant for the development of pickleball courts at Dolly Cooper Park in Powdersville.
The pickleball court project, a direct response to the significant community-based support, is a testament to the community’s integral role in shaping their local facilities. The surge in pickleball participation in recent years has led to the development of these new courts, which will help meet the overwhelming demand for these facilities in Powdersville and surrounding communities.
With all project funding now secured, Anderson County will proceed with the final design and development of the courts. Eight pickleball courts will be built, and lighting will be installed to allow use during evening hours. Developing these courts is part of the county’s effort to enhance services available to the public at Dolly Cooper Park. It comes on the heels of recent projects such as the new mega-play structure, athletic field lighting, and access enhancements.
