Detention Center Groundbreaking
8/16/2024 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Groundbreaking of the new Anderson County Detention Center | Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11 AM at the corner of Matthews and Martin Luther King – adjacent to the current Anderson County Detention Center.
A groundbreaking ceremony will bring the Anderson County community one-step closer to a state-of-the-art detention center. Following strategic preparation and planning, an outdated jail built in the 1950s will be replaced with a modernized facility. The new facility will not increase taxes.
We look forward to providing a safe environment for inmates and staff and mental health, addiction resources, and other services that will positively impact these prisoners well beyond their time served.
PROJECT INFORMATION: Anderson County Council and the Anderson County Detention Facilities Corporation began designing the new facility in Fall 2022. Construction is tentatively scheduled for completion in December 2026.
