Anderson County, S.C. (August 16, 2018) – Each year the South Carolina Chapter of the American Public Works Association (SCAPWA) names an Outstanding Public Works Manager of the Year. This award is given to a public works manager with outstanding initiatives, innovations, and improvements during the past three years in South Carolina.

At the Statewide APWA Conference, Holt Hopkins, Public Works Director for Anderson County was the recipient of that honor. Mr. Hopkins was nominated for his leadership and management of the Anderson County Animal Shelter – P.A.W.S. Under his direction, P.A.W.S. has been transformed, and has become a resource for neighboring counties and agencies.

“Mr. Hopkins is passionate about his work with public works and is very deserving of this award,” said County Administrator Rusty Burns.
