The Major League Fishing (MLF) Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine will visit Anderson, South Carolina, this Saturday, April 12, for the third event of the season in the BFL Savannah River division—the Phoenix Bass Fishing League at Lake Hartwell Presented by Suzuki Marine.
The one-day bass tournament, hosted by Visit Anderson, will showcase a field of weekend grassroots boaters and co-anglers competing for a grand prize of up to $13,000 in the boater division, including the lucrative $7,000 Phoenix MLF Bonus contingency award, and up to $3,000 in the co-angler division.
Anglers preparing for the tournament on Lake Hartwell can anticipate partly sunny and cool conditions. The lake is at full pool, and fishing has been productive, with fish being found in main lake pockets and ditches. Recent cold fronts have pushed some bass deeper, around 25 to 28 feet, but a warming trend may encourage them to move shallower. Effective techniques should include using weedless Fish Head Spins in Pearl White and Albino colors, trailed with a Zoom Fluke Jr., and Rapala Shad Raps in creek pockets. Anglers should remain adaptable, as fish behavior could absolutely shift with changing temperatures.
Anglers will begin each day at 7 a.m. ET, launching from Green Pond Landing, located at 470 Green Pond Road in Anderson. Weigh-ins will take place at the landing, starting at 3 p.m. daily. Fans are invited to attend in person and can also stay connected by following the “MLF Live” weigh-in broadcast on MajorLeagueFishing.com.
The top 60 boaters and co-anglers in the division based on point standings, along with the five tournament winners of each qualifying event, will qualify for the Oct. 10-11 BFL Regional tournament on Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina. Boaters will fish for a top award of a new Phoenix 819 Pro with a 200-horsepower Mercury or Suzuki outboard worth $50,000, while co-anglers will compete for a top award of $20,000.
The 2025 Phoenix BFL Presented by T-H Marine is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 134 events throughout the season and five qualifying tournaments in each division. The top 60 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five qualifying tournament winners, will advance to one of 12 BFL Regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top three, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American. The 2025 BFL All-American will take place May 29-31, 2025, at Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and is hosted by Visit Hot Springs and the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
