NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE: ANDERSON COUNTY ANNEX BUILDING AND THE TREASURER’S OFFICE – POWDERSVILLE LOCATION

Effective at 5:00 PM today (Wednesday, August 5) all offices within the Anderson County Annex Building will be temporarily closed to the public and employees. The Treasurer’s office located at the Powdersville Library Complex will also be closed. This closure includes the offices of elected officials based in the Annex and is being undertaken in consultation with the Treasurer’s Office.

The closure is due to three recent confirmed cases of COVID-19 occurring among Annex staff members and their families, as well as the presence of a COVID symptomatic person in the building.

“Our recent experience at the Historic Courthouse has taught us that the COVID-19 virus can spread rapidly despite precautions” said County Administrator Rusty Burns. “We feel it is best to let the virus run its course via this closure before it becomes more widespread – a condition which would not only still require closure, but put scores of employees and members of the public at risk.”

Employees based in Annex offices will be working remotely during the closure and will continue attending to public business. Office phones and emails are being monitored and all messages will be returned.

The County plans for all employees to return to onsite duties at the Annex on Monday, August 17.
