Anderson County continues its ongoing work to reopen and improve the River Forks Recreation Area on Lake Hartwell.  Specific efforts ongoing at this time include:

  • Correcting issues related to fallen trees and other hazards, ADA-accessibility, circulation routes, amenities, parking, fall zones, and other immediate concerns;
  • Development of a needs-assessment for repairs, maintenance, support services, removals, and other capital items;
  • Preparing plans and estimates for public amenities requested by park users and visitors.

The county’s senior leadership and staff are working to have these items completed by late summer or early fall, at which time a schedule for phased reopening of the facility will be announced.

Anderson County Council thanks the public for its patience and support as we undertake this major rehabilitation effort.
