Mission & Vision

At Anderson County PAWS, our mission is to protect, care for, and advocate for animals in need through sheltering, adoption, lifesaving programs, education, spay and neuter services, and community partnerships. Our vision is a compassionate community where every animal is valued, treated with kindness, and given the opportunity to live a safe, healthy, and loved life.

Adopt A Pet

Several shelter cats lounge, climb, and play together on a multi-level cat tree in the shelter’s cat room, showing off their curious and relaxed personalities.

All adoptions are done in-person first come, first served. Come meet our adoptable pets during open hours: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat 12-5.

The Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormer, flea treatment, microchip and heartworm test (for dogs over 6 months of age). A rabies vaccination is given to animals over 12 weeks of age.

Large Dogs: $10 | Small Dogs/Puppies: $40 | Cats & Kittens: $20

Foster with PAWS

A happy shelter dog relaxes in a foster home, sleeping peacefully on a couch while warm sunlight shines across the cushions.A mama dog rests in a birthing pool while nursing her litter of puppies, curled around them protectively as they feed and snuggle close to her.A girl and a shelter dog enjoy a daycation hike together, walking along a trail outdoors while spending quality time and exploring nature.

You provide a home & TLC! We provide the furry friend, supplies, food and veterinary care.

Medical/Behavior- this program is for pets that are not ready to be adopted yet due to medical or behavior concerns. These animals will rely on a foster family to help them get ready for adoption.

Neonate/Pregnant/Nursing- mothers and their litters, or little ones without mothers. These pets will rely on a foster family until they’re old enough for surgery/adoption.

Foster Ambassador- these pets will rely on their foster family to help them make a match with an adopter.

Fospice- these pets are at the end of their lives and need a restful place to spend their remaining days, however long that may be.

Daycation & Slumber Pawty- short-term foster for folks that would like to take a dog for a day or overnight for a fun-filled break from the shelter. This is not only enrichment for the dog, but a great way to find out more about their personality.

IF YOU’RE HAVING AN EMERGENCY WITH YOUR FOSTER PET, please email us ASAP at PawsRescue@AndersonCountySC.org with the subject line “FOSTER EMERGENCY”. A supervisor will reach out with next steps.

Foster Families Say…

“She’s actually an angel.”
Birdie’s foster said she was loyal, quiet in the crate, and had zero accidents.

“Fearless and full of love.”
Phoebe (formerly DeeDee) made herself at home on day one, and now she’s the family greeter.

“Goofy-smart and snuggly.”
Chronos (formerly Ivan) is a total couch buddy who loves learning new tricks.

“Our tiny hero.”
Spot even donated blood to save another pup—proof that fosters save lives in more ways than one.

“The gentleman of the group.”
Carlton Barks fit right into his foster home, winning hearts with his polite manners and love of squeaky toys.

“Pure sass and snuggles.”
Mrs. Sassy quickly claimed her favorite spot on the couch and made sure everyone knew she was queen of the house.
