The GIS & E911 Addressing Department is responsible for the determination, maintenance, and analysis of all geographic information pertinent to Anderson County. We are ensuring systematic assignment and maintenance of all addresses and street data in Anderson County.

The GIS & E911 Addressing Department is responsible for the determination, maintenance, and analysis of all geographic information pertinent to Anderson County. We are ensuring systematic assignment and maintenance of all addresses and street data in Anderson County.

NOTICE: Anderson County E-911 addressing does not assign new addresses without an open permit via OpenGov.

Information you need to know to receive an address assigned to new properties:

  • For properties outside city limits or within the city limits of Belton, Pendleton, Pelzer or Honea Path:
  • When you are ready to build go to https://www.andersoncountysc.org/work-live/for-businesses/planning-development/ and use the OpenGov Permitting Portal.   If you are not planning to build yet, no address needs to be assigned and one will not be given.
  • For properties inside the city limits of Anderson:
  • City of Anderson – The City of Anderson uses a separate OpenGov portal.  See the City of Anderson Permitting Office for details.   We will assign an address when prompted to do so by the City OpenGov System.
  • For properties inside the city limits of Williamston, Iva, West Pelzer, Easley, or Clemson  – Email the following to gise911addressing@andersoncountysc.org:
  1. Copy of your new permit
  2. Address Request form; the form can be obtained here:  https://www.andersoncountysc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/NonOpengov-Address-Request.pdf
  3. Aerial view, map view, diagram, or plat of the property with a drawing showing the proposed location of the driveway/entrance to the property and the structure (house, barn, building, well, pole, gate)

Please note that the above information is for non-commercial building (For commercial building permits, first see Anderson County Development Standards or the planning department of the municipality, if applicable.

GIS & E911 Addressing Responsibilities

GIS & E911 Addressing compiles data from outside sources, aerial views, site visits, GPS, survey plats, and owner descriptions.  The streets and addresses are updated daily.  The parcel data is updated daily from the Assessor and Mapping Departments information.  Ensure correct information from addressing applicants for the 911 Dispatch and all emergency services, Fire, Law, and EMS.  Corroborate with other departments for data and map request.  Allocate data with the SC State GIS Coordinator, USGS, DNR, Census, and other entities. Continuous data reviewing, maintenance, and corrections.  Create political, emergency, school, zoning, and other cartographic maps.
